When the kitchen walls came down…

After the kitchen floor was opened up, the walls came down, or, rather, Bob and Paul demolished them.

The open kitchen walls revealed “gunstock” posts (resembling inverted muskets), with high beams surrounding the kitchen interior. From the perspective of one standing in the kitchen, the high beams resemble a narrow ledge around the room.

Later, when the ceiling plaster was removed, the vertical posts that hold up the second floor walls also became visible, and, within the kitchen, these appear as partitions along a high narrow ledge. We’ll get to that soon…
