Around the daunting corner…

Before we get to that which was most daunting…

Removing the magic arch involved opening the kitchen paneling, but it also opened up the paneling in the dining room, at the corner where the dining room joins the kitchen.

We had actually been curious about that corner, because it had formed a diagonal angle, rather than a right angle.

Behind the dining room panel we found a brick wall connected to the dining room chimney. At the corner, we discovered that before it had been paneled, some of the brick had been plastered, and atop the plaster we found layers of wallpaper.

This is the top layer, which resembles some ‘forties examples.
